Our time is short and the books are plentiful… how might we efficiently build text sets for effective literacy forward instruction? This practical course will share the why, what and how of creating bespoke text sets. Whether for a standalone ELA or integrated transdisciplinary unit, you will explore the processes behind gathering, filtering, prioritizing, and organizing rich, multigenre texts for purposeful literacy instruction.

Designed over two sessions to provide time to workshop, you will walk away with:

  • Resources for finding appropriate texts
  • Tools for text analysis
  • Frameworks for text organization
  • A foundation for building your own text set
  • And a think tank of fellow participants to support continuing work!

For the richest experience, please consider pre-selecting a possible unit, topic, theme or text from your current curriculum.
